Trauma and EMDR

Traumatic experiences are situations that are overwhelming, frightening and difficult to control.  They can be road accidents, workplace incidents, bullying at school, phobias, witnessing a traumatic event or childhood trauma.  These events can affect our responses in many different ways, sometimes leaving you feeling very out of control.

How Can it Help?

EMDR is therapeutic method of processing a traumatic incident from the 'stuck' right side of the brain to the left part of the brain, so that the incident becomes a distant memory, instead of getting in the way of how we respond to everyday life events.
EMDR usually takes up to 8 sessions, for a single trauma, or can be part of ongoing therapy. Sessions are longer than other therapies to allow for processing in the sessions.

Cost: £60 - £80 per session (usually 75 mins)

"I was wary at first and didn't understand how the eye movements would help. I very quickly felt calmer and was able to sleep thought the night after 8 sessions,"
